There are approximately 90 songs in this set each side narrated by Bing Crosby, mentioning which film the song was featured in and the stars he worked with, or whether the song was a solo hit for him, it's an excellent reference work and a pleasure to listen to, Bing Crosby was the 20th century's most popular singing artist. |Entertainment 1939 - 1944 Newscasts, Filmsoundtracks, Dance Bands - Phil Binstead|
This is No 5 of 13 Entertainment files. The 'live' news broadcasts by Edward R. Murrow, and many british news broadcasters give a rare insight into the D-Day landings in 1944, Ed Murrow's 'Live' Broadcasts in London as the bombs fell are compelling to listen to. There are many soundtracks from popular film musicals of the time which gave war weary Londoners a break from reality if only for a short while...

|Some Magical Songs and Scenes from the 40's & 50's - Phil Binstead|
Some of my favourite numbers and Scenes by my favourite Stars and Bands. The star of stars in this compilation is the incomparable Dame Edith Evans as Lady Bracknell in The Importance Of Being Earnest, she made the part her own also in the film version to, no-one has ever approached her wonderful performance and I suspect no-one ever will :-) could anyone say "A Haandbaag!" in quite the same way Dame Edith does, one of those wonderful theatrical moments.
